The Zero-Server Privacy Architecture
ZeroMeme does not have a backend. There is no server that receives, stores, or processes your photos. When you choose an image, the browser reads the file into local memory and hands the raw bytes to the HTML5 Canvas API. Every caption, crop, scale and rotation is applied by manipulating the canvas pixel buffer directly inside your device's RAM. The finished meme is encoded back into a PNG on your own hardware, ready to download.
Because the pixels never traverse the network, there is nothing to intercept, log, or archive. This is a fundamentally different model from typical cloud-based meme generators, which upload your image to a remote server, render the meme there, and often retain a copy on cloud storage or a CDN. With ZeroMeme, closing the tab discards everything. Nothing is transmitted, so nothing can be leaked, resold, or subpoenaed.
The same principle applies to drafts: ongoing work is saved to IndexedDB, a sandboxed database that lives entirely on your device. You can verify all of this yourself by opening your browser's DevTools Network tab — no image data ever appears in an outgoing request.
